Stapeley and Rorrington is located approx. 6 miles North of Bishops Castle on the western side of the A488.

Stapeley and Rorrington is an open area on a hillside with good rock and contour features providing relatively fast orienteering. There are also some steep craggy slopes.

The area is divided by a fence which has crossing points.

There are spectacular views in every direction across the Marches countryside.

The area is also the site of Mitchell’s Fold Stone Circle. There are 15 stones, arranged in a rough circle, but there may once have been as many as 30. The circle is believed to have been constructed during the Bronze Age, over 3,000 years ago.

Parking will be in a farmer’s field.

Dogs will not be permitted on the competition area.
Dogs will be permitted in the car parking field but must be on a lead at all times and owners must clean up any mess their dog creates.

Due to Covid restrictions and commitments to the local landowners, entries will be limited to 350 entrants

As today will incorporate the Midland Area Long Distance Orienteering Championships, entries will initially be restricted to members of the clubs within the West Midlands, East Midlands and East Anglian Orienteering Associations.

After an initial period, if there are still slots available, then entries will be opened to all BOF members.
