Welcome to the SINS 2019 website.
SINS 2019 will take place as usual over the late May Bank Holiday weekend, 25th – 27th May.
Planning for SINS 2019 started in early 2017 following a request to incorporate the 2019 Midland Area Long Distance Championships into SINS 2019.
These Championships will be held on Brown Clee, which is located between Ludlow and Bridgnorth.
Brown Clee is a large, varied terrain with complex areas which makes it ideal for major orienteering events and was used for the British Orienteering Championships in 2016.
Please note that, unfortunately, because sheep, lambs and pheasants are the main business of the Burwarton Estate which forms the bulk of the competition area NO DOGS will be permitted at Brown Clee including in the car park.
In order to provide variety over the SINS weekend, on Saturday the county town of Shrewsbury will be the venue for an Urban event and on Monday the intention is that the venue will be The Wrekin for a Middle Distance event.
The urban event on Saturday will form part of the 2019 UK Urban League and the events on Sunday and Monday will form parts of the 2019 UK Orienteering League.
Monstay Farm Camping and Caravan Site, situated just west of Ludlow, is relatively close to Brown Clee and has been used regularly by competitors at previous SINS. We have spoken to the owners and Orienteers will be welcomed again this year. For further information see the Accommodation tab.
Putting on the family friendly SINS long weekend is very much a team effort. Even at this stage there are many people whose efforts are already well advanced in aiming to make SINS 2019 an enjoyable event not to be missed.
Please watch this space for further details which will be added to the website over the next few weeks.
