(Formal permission now received from Natural Resources Wales)
SINS Day 2 – Sunday 28th May
Organiser: Adrian Griffiths (WRE)
Planner: Adrian Pickles (WRE)
Controller: Robert Griffiths (MWOC)
Start Times: 1000 – 1300
Nash Woods straddle the English and Welsh border and are situated a mile South West of the town of Presteigne.
They are 8 miles South West of our Day 3 venue at Brampton Bryan.
The terrain is mainly wooded with deciduous and conifer trees situated either side of the ridge of a hill which rises to over 300metres with some steep sections in places.
The ridge of the hill runs west to east with the north side in Wales and the south side in England
The deciduous areas have varying degrees of undergrowth; the conifer areas are covered in brashings (small cut branches) which can make running difficult.
The area has a number of forestry tracks and numerous paths some of which can be indistinct.
We are very grateful to Mid Wales Orienteering Club for the use of one of their areas following the loss of the original Day 2 location at Caradoc and Hope Bowdler.
