Shropshire is a very popular tourist location and there is a variety of accommodation to suit all tastes. On the last two occasions (2011 and 2013 we were centred on the Monstay Farm campsite with easy access to Ludlow. This time (2015) our camping will be split between the Foxholes campsite at Bishops Castle and Monstay Farm.
The following campsites are aware of the event and will no doubt fill up quickly so get in touch as soon as you can.
Foxholes Castle is a very popular site and is within walking distance of Bishop’s Castle.
Monstay Farm is very convenient for Ludlow and has a great location in the Mortimer Forest.
The Old School Caravan Park has a small amount of accommodation for tents in addition to pitches for caravans.
Other Accommodation and Tourist Information
If you are looking for other accommodation here are some web sites to help you.
Shropshire Tourism is the official tourism website for Shropshire. It is a good place to start, not just for accommodation ideas but also for more information about the attractions of the area. It is a comprehensive site and has a very useful accommodation search page which may be good enough to provide you with enough information to eliminate the need to seek further. Like most of the sites mentioned in this page it has links to many other Shropshire related sites.
Virtual Shropshire helps you find accommodation including campsites, where to get your food and drink, alternative activities, walks, drives, and many places of interest. Also useful on the Virtual Shropshire site is the option of having a South Shropshire brochure mailed to you.
The Shropshire Hills and Ludlow site provides information specifically about the area including the market towns of Church Stretton, Bishops Castle, Craven Arms, Clun, Much Wenlock and Cleobury Mortimer. The Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is a jewel in the crown of Shropshire’s lovely countryside, and here traditional market towns sit comfortably among its rolling hills and valleys.
This year we will not be visiting Ludlow for an urban event but this wonderful town is well worth a more leisurely visit during your time in Shropshire. The official website has all you need to know about this wonderful town.
Bishops Castle has its own website which has plenty of information about places to stay in the area. It lists 4 local campsites all of them close to the town. There 2 others not listed, again close by, which may also be of interest:
Middle Woodbatch Farm
The Green Caravan Park, Wentnor
The Green Caravan Park is 5 miles away and is, out of all these, furthest from Bishops Castle – although it does adjoin a nice pub.
